Referendum on independence for Scotland 18 September 2014
In the Highlands, The Highland Council's Election Team will be administering the referendum on Scottish Independence on 18 September 2014 when voters will be asked: "Should Scotland be an independent country? Yes/No"
For the first time, those who will be aged 16 at the time of the referendum will be able to vote. The Council will be working closely with Highland Youth Voice and the Electoral Commission to ensure that this new group of voters are given all the information they require to engage in the process.

Mock elections and engagement with secondary schools and Highland Youth Voice are all key areas of development.
