Complaints from members of the public about food are dealt with by officers from Environmental Health.
Typical complaints include:
- Food smelling "off"
- Food discoloured
- Foreign body in food
- Product having been sold after its 'use-by' date.
- Food causing illness
- Unhygienic premises and food staff
Officers take these complaints very seriously, giving them high priority and taking appropriate enforcement action. This can involve an immediate visit to the premises where the food was sold to ascertain whether the complaint was part of a bigger problem which requires to be resolved.
