The Child Support Agency can collect child maintenance on your behalf from a non resident parent. The amount of child maintenance will depend on the income and circumstances of the non resident parent and how many children qualify for help.
From 12 April 2010, all parents with the main day-to-day care of a child/children who receive income-related benefits are allowed to keep all of their child maintenance, without it affecting their entitlement to benefit.

Child Trust Fund
The Child Trust Fund is a long term, tax free savings and investment account for children born between 1 September 2002 and 02 January 2011. the Government stopped all Child Trust fund payments from 02 January 2011 therefore any child born after this date would not be eligible for a payment.
For those children who have accounts, extra funds can be addrd to the account up to a limit of £1200 a year. Your child can withdraw the money when they turn 18.
