The Council has produced a Corporate Plan to mirror the priorities of the Programme of The Highland Council 2009-2011, entitled Strengthening the Highlands. The Council aims to create sustainable communities with more balanced population growth and economic development across the Highlands and to build a fairer and healthier Highlands.
As part of this commitment the Council leads the development of an employability strategy, Highland Works, a Partnership Agreement with Job Centre Plus and Skills Development Scotland to prevent and reduce poverty by supporting more people into sustained employment.
The Agreement aims to -
- Deliver a client centred services that assists people who are at a distance from the labour market, including people with health and capability issues, to be prepare for employment and to move into the world of work
- Co-ordinate activity across Council Services and manage the range of Council employability related services, the resources available, and the arrangements for procurement, management and service delivery
- Work with Partners to align and co-ordinate employment related activity.
