Training/Events

Green Council

Energy and Sustainability provides a wide range of training events and activities designed to provide energy and sustainability awareness and best practice guidance. The training enables Council staff and school pupils to adopt better practices in the home and work place. Advice and training is provided in the following areas:

  • Energy Awareness Training
    • E&S provide energy awareness training to Council staff to support bringing about behavioural change. The training has been already been provided to home carers and service point staff, and is planned to be extended to cover other areas. The training is also an integral part of the Green Ambassadors programme so that volunteers in each of the Council services can be provided with the knowledge to raise awareness of energy efficiency and ‘champion’ measures to reduce energy use.
  • Retirement Advice
    • Energy and Sustainability provides energy efficiency advice presentations to staff who are approaching retirement. Energy use can be significantly higher in a home that is occupied more frequently say due to retirement. The presentation gives advice on measures that can be made in retirement to help reduce energy use. The presentation also provides information on renewable energy and the various options available with these technologies.
  • Education Workshops
  • Low Carbon / Sustainable Design Advice
    • E&S can provide technical advice and training on low carbon building design, energy efficient / sustainable design, operation and management of buildings.
  • Bespoke training

The provision of appropriate training is a key strategy to ensuring that the Council reaches its goals for energy and carbon reductions.

If you are interested in holding a training event, or would like to discuss the prospect of bespoke training, then please get in touch.
