A licence is required for the sale (for consumption on or off the premises) of meals or refreshments to the public between the hours of 11.00pm and 5.00am.
Important change in the law.
From 1 October 2012 a licence will not only be required for the sale of meals and refreshments between the hours of 11.00pm and 5.00am but also all food. Food has a very wide definition meaning any substance or product, whether processed, partially processed or unprocessed, intended to be, or reasonably expected to be ingested by humans. This includes water, drinks and chewing gum.
This will mean that some premises which presently do not need a late hours catering licence because they do not sell meals or refreshments may require one because the products they do sell will fall within the definition of food. Please contact your local Licensing Office for further advice.
Below is all the information you will require to apply for a Late Hours Catering Licence.
