The Highland Licensing Board supports the training of licensees and their staff. There are many good training courses run in and around the Highlands by the undernoted providers and these are ideal for those who need to prove fitness, such as licensees and managers, and also for experienced staff.
Members of the licensed trade and those associated with it will know that formal qualifications will soon be required and it is anticipated that both of the undernoted providers will meet the standards required by The Scottish Executive.

Door Stewards
The Highland Council do not operate any licensing or registration scheme for Door Stewards. Door Stewards are to be regulated under the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and further information can be obtained at www.the-sia.org.uk
From November 1 2007, Door Stewards will need an SIA (Security Industry Authority) licence. It will be illegal to act without one.
Holders of Liquor Licences will not require these as long as they are not acting as Door Stewards, but the Highland Boards expect that licensees will ensure that Door Steward are properly accredited.
