Calculate your carbon footprint

“Everyone has a carbon footprint - it's your own personal measure of how much carbon dioxide you create and how much you contribute to climate change.”
- ‘Directgov – public services all in one place’
Energy efficiency and climate change are serious issues that affect us all and are becoming headline news due to changes in the environment. This is reflected in the efforts being made at international, national and local level to address the effects of climate change and to promote better use of resources.
Scotland’s Climate Change Declaration was signed by The Highland Council in January 2007. The declaration acknowledges that:
- Climate change is occurring and human activities are having a significant negative and potentially dangerous influence.
- We all have a duty and responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment.
The Environment begins ‘at home’
Over 40 per cent of CO2 emissions in the UK come directly from what we do as individuals.
It is within our own actions that we can make a difference. By reducing C02 emissions now we can help to safe guard future generations from the impacts of climate change.
We wish to encourage everyone to think about the issues and act now. Use the Act on CO2 calculator to find out your carbon footprint. You will get a personalised action plan with recommendations about how you can help tackle climate change and save money.
