A Vision For The Future
The Highland Council has been engaging with the public as part of the process of identifying a site for a Highland Gallery and Museum. The public engagement ends today (27 June 2008).
The Highland Council’s 5 year Capital Plan makes provision for a contribution of £5 million towards the provision of an iconic new Highland Gallery and Museum, the cost of which is currently estimated to be around £15 million. Before full development work can start and before contributions can be sought from other potential funders we need to define a site.
The public engagement included information in the local press and radio and a workshop which the public were invited to attend. Responses were collected throuigh a postal and on-line survey and at the workshop which was held on Wednesday 25 June 2008. The information from the public engagement will be one of the factors the Council takes account of in deciding on a site for the faciltiy and will provide valuable information to the Council’s Education, Culture and Sport Committee and the InvernessCity Committee.
