Dispose of large household items

What can and can't be collected

We will collect:

  • Bathroom suites and sanitaryware (a toilet pan, cistern, basin, pedestal, bath, shower cubicle, shower tray are classed as 1 item each. i.e shower cubicle, shower tray and bath are 3 items)
  • Beds (a bed is 2 items: bed base with headboard, and mattress)
  • Bicycles
  • Carpets (must be covered to protect them from rain water and snow)
  • Car Tyres ( a tyre and rim is 1 item)
  • Computers
  • Cookers (Agas, Rayburns and cast-iron cookers are not accepted for collection)
  • Cupboards
  • Dishwashers
  • Doors (doors with glass panels cannot be accepted)
  • Freezers and fridges (doors should be taped up or stored with the door up against a wall, interior must be clean and shelves and trays removed)
  • Furniture which does not fit into wheelie bin
  • Gas heaters (bottle must be removed)
  • Gates (up to 2.4m in length)
  • Kitchen units, work tops and sinks (kitchen units should not be disassembled. Each unit is 1 item. Work tops no longer than 2.4m in length)
  • Lawnmowers and garden tools
  • Living room furniture (sofas, arm chairs etc. must be covered to protect from rain water and snow)
  • Mattresses (must be covered to protect from rain, water and snow)
  • Microwaves
  • Rolls of floor covering ( must be covered to protect from rain, water and snow)
  • Rotary driers (concrete base and rope must be removed)
  • Soft Furnishings ( must be covered to protect from rain, water and snow)
  • Storage heaters (bricks must be removed)
  • Tables
  • Television
  • Tumble dryers
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Washing machines
  • Window frames (frames only, glass will not be accepted)

We will not collect:

  • Aga cooker and cast-iron cookers
  • Asbestos
  • Bagged waste 
  • Barbed wire
  • Batteries
  • Branches
  • Breeze blocks
  • Bricks
  • Car parts and scrap metals
  • Cement and concrete
  • Chemical and liquid waste (including pesticides)
  • Clothes pole
  • Commercial waste
  • Coal bunker
  • Corrugated iron
  • Dead animals
  • DIY( householders materials arising from the enlargement, construction and improvement of property)
  • Fencing
  • Fireplace
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • Garage doors
  • Gas canisters and gas bottles
  • Glass
  • Heating appliance and boiler
  • Oil
  • Paint and paint pots
  • Pianos
  • Plasterboard
  • Radiators
  • Rayburn cooker and cast-iron cookers
