Home modifications and equipment
Home modifications for the elderly or disabled
If you have a disability or chronic medical condition, your quality of life can be greatly improved with the right equipment, home alterations and advice.
Regardless of whether you own your home or rent it from us, a housing association, or a private landlord, you may be able to get help with both equipment and adaptations.
An occupational therapist or community nurse will visit you to assess your needs and advise you of practical solutions available.
An adaptation to your home is anything that physically alters it. Examples of minor adaptations would include installing hand rails or ramps. Examples of more major adaptations would include:
- Alterations to your toilet or bathroom facilities
- Alterations to doors, pathways, kitchen, car access to your house
