Tenant participation

Tenants and residents associations in Highland

Tenants and residents associations are groups of people organised to represent the views of a particular community or geographic area.

Tenants and residents groups can be involved in a wide range of issues such as large-scale housing improvements, localised environmental improvements or policy matters.

They generally have an ongoing role organising social events too.

Register of tenant organisations

A registered tenants organisation is a formal tenants and residents association which has fulfilled criteria set out by Scottish Ministers. All associations within the boundary of the council are entitled to apply for registration with us.

Associations do not have to be registered. The Tenant Participation Team can provide help to associations which wish to formally register. The team is also on hand to help associations run their affairs successfully and develop their skills and capacity as a group. There are certain advantages to registration which our team can discuss with you.
