Renewable energy in your home

Generating your own electricity

Low-carbon technologies such as wind turbines, solar panels and wood fuel boilers use renewable sources of energy, so you reduce your carbon footprint as well as your fuel bills.

You can generate your own energy by installing renewable energy systems at home, such as solar panels, wind turbines and air source heat pumps.

Some of the systems may even be eligible for Government funding.

If you are a homeowner or private landlord considering installing equipment to generate renewable electricity you will find useful information in the renewable energy section of the Energy Saving Trust Scotland website.
