Combating fuel poverty
Help and advice
There are many reasons why people can find it hard to pay their fuel bills . You might hear this called 'fuel poverty'.
The key factors that can contribute to fuel poverty are:
- The energy efficiency of the property (the energy required to heat and power the home)
- The cost of energy
- Household income
The Scottish Government aims to make sure that by November 2016 people are not living in fuel poverty in Scotland. Read The Scottish Government's fuel poverty policy.
The Highland Housing Strategy sets out how we will try to end fuel poverty in the Highlands by 2016.
