Local Area Partnerships (LAPs)

Due to the size of the area and the range of diverse local communities, decision making is devolved from the Highland LAG Local Action Group down to seven Local Area Partnerships (LAPs):

Caithness
Sutherland
Skye
Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh
Lochaber
Inner Moray Firth North
Inner Moray Firth South

LAPs are structured in the same way as the LAG and are made up of mix of public and private/ community/voluntary sector representatives.

The LAPs carry out similar functions to the Highland Strategic LAG but at a more local level.

The LAPs are responsible for:

• the delivery of their Local Area Action Plan (more info about the LAAP)
the management of a local budget
• making decisions on local projects seeking LEADER support
