Interested in working together to find better solutions to rural challenges?

LEADER promotes economic and community development in rural areas. The Highland Local Action Group has a budget of £440,000 to match fund ‘co-operation’ projects involving partnerships between Highland and at least one other rural area - in Scotland, Wales, N. Ireland or elsewhere in the EU.

Priority will be given to projects which:

¨ Improve local access to services / activities in each region;

¨ Increase local employment;

¨ Increase income from local produce, by adding value;

¨ Improve the visitor experience in each region;

¨ Improve access to / management of cultural, natural, or heritage assets;

¨ Enhance volunteering opportunities / capacity to secure funds.

LEADER grants of £2,000 to £100,000 can cover up to 75% of total costs for co-operation projects, and more in exceptional circumstances. Projects must be complete by October 2019 and have total costs over £5,000.

Applications can be made by individuals, community and voluntary groups, social enterprises, public bodies, and businesses (micro/SME only).
