Children's services
The Scottish Government is committed to improving the quality of life for Scotland's children and defeating child poverty. The services which children themselves receive are clearly central to this effort.
The Highland Council, NHS Highland and their partner services are proud of the strides made locally towards improved and integrated services for local children, families and communities.

Care and Learning Alliance (CALA)
CALA offers support to voluntary groups providing child care and early education opportunities to parents, offering a one-stop approach to deliver early education and child care to parents reaching ages 0-18. Information can be obtained from the CALA website in the Related Information section.
HandsOnScotland
The HandsOnScotland Website is an online resource for anybody working with children and young people. It is a one-stop shop for practical information and techniques on how to respond helpfully to children and young people's troubling behaviour, build up their self-esteem and promote their positive mental wellbeing. For more information please visit the website at www.handsonscotland.co.uk The website was commissioned by the Scottish Government through Heads up Scotland and was developed by Playfield Institute (NHS Fife) in partnership with Barnardo's and the University of Dundee.
My Study Bar
My Study Bar is a free open source literacy support package. It contains a mind mapping tool, reading support, writing support, a screen reader and speech recognition in an attractive, floating toolbar. It is fully customizable. It can enlarge print, change fonts, background colours. It can read text, translate to and from other languages, explain meanings. Animated screencast tutorials are available online at the JISC RSC Scotland.
