Adult Basic Education provides free, confidential tuition on a one-to-one or small group basis.
We offer help to people who want to:
- Improve reading, writing and spelling
- Improve counting, calculating and number work
- Learn English as a second language
- Prepare for interviews, tests and exams
- Keep up with, and help children with homework and reading
- Increase confidence in learning
Here are some of the things learners have said about Adult Basic Education:
“When my kids started overtaking me in reading I decided it was time to get help in going back to learning.”
“I didn’t think I could do it. Now I wish I had come for help years ago.”
“I was really scared to begin with but now I look forward to meeting my tutor. It’s not like school at all and I know for sure now that I’m not stupid – I can learn as well as anybody.”
Free training is also available for people interested in becoming volunteer tutors.
