The units

feature core tasks involving trails within the school grounds (including wild areas) or locations more distant from the school (including outdoor pursuits). Trails may involve finding clues or objects. It would be possible to add examples with a sustainable development element such as natural features or interesting features of buildings.

Current approach: pupils practise key skills and carry out a variety of outdoor activities and tasks within and beyond the school grounds. There are no specific references to appreciation of the environments in which the activities are carried out, or to safeguards to protect the environments in which they are carrying out the activities.
