The Highlands for Adventure Activities
The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are second to none in the United Kingdom with regards the diversity of adventurous activity opportunities. The valued natural resources, of which we all have a 'right of responsible access' to, provide everyone with scope to enjoy a variety of activities throughout the year.
The value of engaging young people with adventurous activities is well documented and as such is recognised as an important part of Curriculum for Excellence through Outdoor Learning.
Highland Council and High Life Highland encourage the use of adventurous activities as a vehicle for delivering several aspects of A Curriculum for Excellence and through the Outdoor Education staff, advice and support is readily available along with funding for High Life Highland and Education Culture and Sport staff to attend National Governing Body training and assessment courses such as Summer Mountain Leader, Trail Cycle Leader etc in partnership with Scotland's National Outdoor Training Centre, Glenmore Lodge.
Please contact George Reid or Nancy Chambers for further information.
