Managing outdoor learning

In Scotland the good practice guide Health and Safety on Education Excursions (HASEE) produced by the Scottish Executive is the main source of guidance.

Education Scotland host 10 very useful 'Health and Safety Guides' which are condensed versions of HASEE noted above.

Highland Council's policy, Procedures and Guidance for all Off Site Excursions, is based on HASEE.

Adventure Activities

Where an excursion involves activities such as
• Canoe sports
• Snowsports
• Moutainsports
• Cycle sports
• etc.

Reference should also be made to The Highland Council's Outdoor Education Safety Document.

Education Scotland also provide activity specific advice.
