There are over 200 nursery education providers, 183 Primary Schools, 29 Secondary Schools and 3 Special Schools in Highland.

Highland Virtual Learning Community
This is Highland’s learning and teaching web site www.hvlc.org.uk/.   In the pupils’ section you will find web sites selected for their relevance to the school curriculum and sites to help them choose books to read for pleasure.   The parents’ section has information about schools in Highland, and about the Psychological and Support for Learners services which support pupils who have difficulties of various kinds which affect their learning.   Parents may also be interested in the Learning and Teaching Toolkit, which is a guide to help teachers put into practice the aims of the learning and teaching policy.   The staffroom includes a range of information to support teachers, school librarians and other school staff.   The quality assurance section includes information relating to policy and planning.

HMIe
Each year, HM Inspectors inspect and report on the quality of education in pre-school centres, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, community learning and development, further education colleges, initial teacher education, residential educational provision and the education functions of local authorities and services for children.   Copies of Inspection Reports can be downloaded from the HMIe website www.hmie.gov.uk/
