Parent Councils

The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 received Royal Assent in June 2006, taking effect from 1 August 2006.  One of the changes the legislation has brought about is the introduction of Parent Forums (the entire parent body) and Parent Councils to schools.  Almost all schools in Highland now have Parent Councils up and running, with many more parents volunteering to become involved in a much less formal model of parental representation.   For further information on the consultative process used to help parents in Highland get their Parent Councils up and running, please see the Parents as Partners newsletters in the section on the right.
