Tongue Primary School is a well-resourced school situated on the edge of Tongue in very pleasant surroundings. The children are provided with a stimulating learning environment encompassing an education of the highest quality, which inspires children to reach their full potential. The school is active in raising standards across the curriculum and uses a broad range of strategies and resources to ensure continued success. The school maintains a meaningful partnership with parents and pupils based on an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child’s education. The School Board participate actively in the life of the school and is involved in a range of school issues.
There are presently 2 classes in the school with a further class taught in the medium of Gaelic. The children are supported in mainstream classes by a learning support auxiliary and teacher. There are currently 31 pupils in P1-7 and the school has 3 teaching staff. Pre-school pupils attend the local playgroup which takes place in the village hall. The local hall is also used for physical education.
