Grantown Primary School and Nursery provides its pupils with a stimulating learning environment which is supported by an ethos of encouraging achievement and celebrating success. We actively promote partnership between home, school and the wider community and have an active and supportive School Board and Parent Teacher Association.
There are presently 10 mainstream classes in the school with 284 pupils in Primary 1-7. The Nursery caters for 3 and 4 year old children and at present has 30 children in two separate sessions.

HM Inspectors identified the following key strengths in the HMIe Inspection of May 2006

- The commitment and teamwork of all staff and the polite and well behaved pupils

- The outdoor learning environment accessed from the playroom
- The high quality of interaction and relationships between staff and children
- Happy, confident, well-behaved, motivated children
- The four very good programmes for children’s development and learning
- The overall support for children and families, including the very good support for children with additional support needs
- The effective leadership of the headteacher and support provided to nursery staff by the nursery coordinator teacher
