Invergarry Primary School and nursery serve the communities of Laggan, extending some three miles to the south and Glengarry, from the village of Invergarry to Kinlochourn on the coast, some twenty six miles to the west.
The current school roll is 20 plus 3 children in the nursery. The school’s allocation of 1.5 teachers is supported by a classroom assistant and a clerical assistant. The nursery has an Early Years Worker and an Early Years Auxiliary. Music and P.E. are delivered by specialist visiting teachers.
Additional activities are provided by Fèis tutors through the Youth Music Initiative scheme and through the active schools Co-ordinator.
The School aims to provide pupils with a stimulating and challenging environment and one in which they will be motivated to learn willingly. The staff aims to have each child working to his/her potential and encourage a mature attitude to work.
The teaching staff firmly believes in the dual concept of the school in the community and the community in the school and therefore encourages adults and children alike to develop positive attitudes to this concept.
There is an active and supportive School Board which meets at regular intervals throughout the session.
