Located in the village of Plockton, the residence is situated within the Plockton High School Campus.  The residence is able to provide accommodation for 48 pupils aged between 11 - 18 years.  Currently we accommodate 30 pupils.

Our residence is unique in that it is the base for The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music (Sgoil Chiuil na Gaidhealtachd) as well as providing accommodation for pupils from Applecross, Craig and Arnisdale.  Of our current pupil roll 19 are here because of their attendance at the NCETM which recruits from all over Scotland.  Pupils attending the NCETM are selected following an audition and selection process and spaces are highly sought after.

Plockton Residence comes under the umbrella of High School Accommodation Services and is one of 5 residences provided by The Highland Council.  These residences are managed by Margaret Ann Beaton, however, there is a managerial structure in place in each residence to supervise the day to day running of the residence and the staff.  Margaret Ann can be contacted on 01478 612277 or margaretann.beaton@highland.gov.uk

Residence staff are qualified professionals who are registered or in the process of registering with Scottish Social Services Council and work together to comply with the SCSWIS registration.  The residence staff work collaboratively with parents and other agencies to ensure pupils are provided with opportunities to access advice, activities and with opportunities to socialise.  We encourage study and provide supported study for 1 hour per night, pupils study in their own rooms with staff checking on their progress.

The residence has 24 twin bedded rooms, 9 music practice rooms, a music room, TV room, a large common room with TV, pool table, table tennis table, air hockey table and games machines.  We also have a computer area which is networked and monitored through the High School.  As we accommodate the NCETM many of our rooms have dual purposes as teaching/practice rooms as well as recreational spaces for all residents.

The residence is open from Monday to Friday inclusive and also every second weekend but only for NCETM pupils.  Non-music school pupils will reside from Monday - Thursday and go home after school on Friday.
