Ullapool High School is situated in the village of Ullapool, at the seaward end of Lochbroom in Wester Ross.  It provides 6 year comprehensive secondary education to pupils within the delineated catchment area who come from as far to the north-west as Lochinver and Drumbeg in Sutherland, with a daily round trip of over 60 miles, and as far south as Dundonnell.  The school currently has 251 pupils, the equivalent of 26 full-time subject teaching staff and an extensive Support for Learning department.

We aim to treat each pupil as an individual and to provide a caring and friendly environment in which every child will be encouraged to develop skills and abilities to cope with the requirements of an ever changing world.

Although this magnificent building is now 11 years old, it has access to all the latest technology, both within the school and also in the very popular community wing, which incorporates the Macphail Centre, the excellent public library and a 200-seat theatre (host to regular touring productions from Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and other respected theatre companies).

Other key features of the school include:

  • Excellent exam results
  • Regular overseas cultural trips
  • Pupil-led music concerts & ceilidhs
  • County & national sports participation
  • Eco-school status
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme
  • Successful Young Engineer and Young Enterprise groups
  • Mutually supportive, positive pupils
  • Leadership opportunities for senior pupils
