Lochinver Primary School is situated in a rural area on the west coast of Sutherland. It serves the village of Lochinver as well as the outlying areas of Achmelvich to the north, Inverkirkaig to the south and Elphin to the east.
There are currently 48 children in the school: they are taught by the head teacher (P6/7) as well as 2 class teachers (P1/2, P3 - 5). In addition, there are the following part time staff, Management (0.3FTE),) Support for Learning (0.3FTE), Art (0.08FTE), PE (0.07FTE), Music (0.08 FTE). There is a classroom assistant, a support for learning auxiliary, a clerical assistant, 2 catering staff (all part time) and a full time janitor/driver.
The school is housed in the old village school which has been extended over the years. It has 3 classrooms, a GP Room, a small room used for individual tuition, an office, staffroom and canteen. Within the grounds of the school is the Lochinver Pre-School Building, where 3 and 4 year olds are provided for by staff operating the facility as a partner centre.
