Highland Council Leader welcomes US TV coverage of Scottish Open (23/01/13)

On behalf of The Highland Council, it is my huge pleasure to welcome so many spectators and sponsors to the Highlands to enjoy the Scottish Open Golf Tournament being held at Castle Stuart Links, near Inverness. I am sure the organisers will build on the success of the previous two years and stage another great event. It is truly marvellous to watch the best players from The European Tour on the outstanding links course and its beautiful surroundings. The event is providing golf fans in the region with an exciting opportunity to witness a wonderful display of golfing talent on their doorstep.

It is also great to see the Highlands showcased to a worldwide television audience via Sky and BBC. It is great news that the event will be broadcast live in America for the first time. Businesses and public agencies are pulling out the stops to provide a warm Highland welcome and I sincerely hope you enjoy the golf and your stay in our very special area.
