Am Baile
Am Baile is the The Highland Council’s award-winning bi-lingual heritage and culture website. It can be found at www.ambaile.org.uk
Managed as part of the Library and Information Service, and based at the Library Support Unit in Inverness, we offer a wealth of information relating to the history and culture of the Highlands and Islands. On our site you will find collections of photographs, rare books, archive documents, audio clips of music, poetry and oral history interviews, interactive games and stories and much more.
What we do
We work closely with a wide range of people and groups including archivists, archaeologists, museum curators, librarians, teachers, heritage organisations and interested individuals to select unique material and develop new content. This is then digitised to a professional standard using local companies where possible.
Get involved
We offer local history groups and other community organisations help in preserving and sharing the heritage and culture of local areas. We can digitise material you would like to share and we will return all material with free digital copies. We can also advise on copyright and preservation issues. Follow this link to find out more.
If you have a query, comment or material to contribute you can email us ambaile@highland.gov.uk or phone 01463 251274.
