The Team

Jamie Gaukroger is Am Baile’s Content Co-ordinator. He is a graduate of the University of Strathclyde and came to work in the Highlands from Edinburgh City Libraries in 2002.

 

Maggie Johnstone is Am Baile’s Administrator and longest-serving team member. She has been a key member of the team since the project began in 2001.

 

Clare Maclean is a full-time Metadata Creator. She graduated from Aberdeen University after studying History and Celtic Studies.

 

Janine Donald is a full-time Metadata Creator. She studied Scottish History at Glasgow University and has recently completed a BA in Cultural Studies of the Highlands & Islands with UHI Millennium Institute.

 

Catherine Murray, our Gaelic Editor, is Head of Gaelic at Tain Royal Academy.

 

Valerie Fraser is Am Baile’s Clerical Assistant and came to us from The Highland Council’s Culture, Learning & Leisure (Inverness) Service.

 

Norman Newton is a Senior Librarian with Highland Libraries, based at the Library Support Unit, specialising in reference and information services.  He has worked in public libraries in Argyll and Inverness since 1976 and has written several books on the local history of Inverness and the Highlands and Islands.

 

Grant Butchart holds the post of Librarian: Data Creator with Am Baile and Highland Libraries.  He is a Chartered Librarian and an Honours graduate in Modern History.

 

We are also indebted to our contract workers who carry out additional research and translate text into Gaelic.
