Family history and genealogy
Family history and genealogy research is provided by a network of Highland Archive Centres across the Highlands. The Family History Centre in Inverness is a facility dedicated to all aspects of genealogy, clan history, and family history throughout the Highlands and the wider world. Scotlands People Public Library Voucher Scheme
Highland Libraries can now offer customers a discounted rate to access the Scotlands People website. The website is the official government source for genealogical data for Scotland and one of the largest online sources of original genealogical information.
Library customers can now purchase £6.00 Starter Vouchers to get 60 credits or £4.80 Top-up Vouchers to get 30 credits. Vouchers are now available for sale through your local Highland library. Staff can also help customers to use the vouchers and advise them on searching records on the website. Click here for more information about how to use the vouchers.
