High Life Highland delivers community learning and leisure services including library and information services on behalf of The Highland Council.
The Library Support Unit, based in Inverness, acts as the hub of the network and the point of contact with libraries and suppliers in the U.K. and internationally. Here standards are set and performance monitored to ensure that a consistent, high quality, customer focused library and information service is delivered throughout the Highlands. Area Library staff visit regularly to select stock and meet with Co-ordinators to discuss the particular requirements of their areas.
The Library Network
The Network is managed by the Library Network Team which meets every six weeks and includes Area Libraries Officers from each of The Highland Council Areas, and specialist Co-ordinators based in the Library Support Unit. These meetings allow the exchange of information and ideas and permit informed decisions to be made which ensure the progress and development of your library service.
The Co-ordinators and their teams include:
Joyce Watson, Principal Libraries Officer, responsible for the co-ordination of the libraries network.
John Dempster, Senior Librarian, Systems Co-ordinator responsible for the computerised library management system together with Brenda Hoare, Senior Library Assistant (Systems), Robert Reid, Senior Librarian Data Creator and Ian Dalrymple, Library Performance Monitor.
June McMillan, Senior Resources Librarian responsible for maximising the procurement and circulation of stock, together with the Senior Library Assistant (Stock) and her team of Library Assistants.
Robert Reid, Librarian Data Creator responsible for cataloguing and classifying library stock, and maintaining Highland Libraries online presence. This includes development and configuration of the libraries Online Catalogue, Information databases and the library Web pages.
Highland Libraries welcome comments on how we perform network-wide. Staff are on duty at Library Support Unit during normal opening hours to receive your calls. An answering service is available at all other times.
