Summer Reading Event

Portree Community Library is confident of making a big splash with its latest summer book themed event which begins on Monday 27 June.

Pre-School to P7 youngsters are invited to take up fifteen free places for a 45 minute session of activities, games and fun – beginning at 3.30pm - which will launch the start of the Summer Seashore Challenge.

The aim is to wet children’s appetites to go beach combing and rock pooling by becoming more familiar with some of the most common plants and animals to be found on Skye’s seashores.  Meanwhile the Library will be displaying a large selection of books – many aimed at adults – ranging from marine biology to fishing, seafood, gardening by the sea and even how to decorate your home in true nautical style!

Bookbug Sessions

They are free, fun, informal sessions with trained staff incorporating rhymes, songs, music and stories for pre-school children and their parents / carers to share and enjoy together. NB: children must be accompanied by an adult.  We look forward to seeing new faces as well as old ones.

Bookbug sessions are held on alternate weeks, please phone for details

Thursday 2.15 - 2.45
 Friday 10.15 - 10.45
