Approved Venues for Civil Marriage and Civil Partnership
Civil marriages and civil partnership registrations may be conducted at locations approved for this purpose by the Highland Council.
There are two types of approval, a period approval for a three-year term, or a temporary approval for a particular date. The fee for a temporary approval is reduced if the venue is the home of one of the parties to the marriage or civil partnership, or the home of one of their parents.
For initial enquiries about applications for approval of venues please contact:
Inverness.registrars@highland.gov.uk
Isobel MacKellaig (Fort William Registration Office)
Meg Gillies (Portree Registration Office)
It is Highland Council policy that civil ceremonies at approved venues will be conducted on:
Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 am and 7 pm
Saturday and public holidays between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm.
Sundays and 25th and 26th December, 1st and 2nd January are excluded.
When you have booked with your chosen venue, they will contact the registration office to arrange for the attendance of a registrar.
Please note that you must also contact the registration office regarding the legal preliminaries to marriage or civil partnership registration.
Details of all venues approved for civil ceremonies in the Highlands can be found on the link to the A-Z of Approved Venues on the right-hand side of this page.
