The town of Dingwall , established at the mouth of the River Peffery where it feeds into the Cromarty Firth, was granted its first Royal Charter in 1226 and has been a Royal Burgh ever since. With Ben Wyvis dominating the skyline the town is within sight of the Black Isle (a peninsula of land stretching north-eastwards) and the spa village of Strathpeffer five miles to the West with its large hotels and guesthouses. Dingwall has long been an important administrative centre and market town serving a vast hinterland which extends to the West Coast.
Dingwall Registration Office
The Ceremony Room is within the Council Offices on the High Street in Dingwall. There is disabled access and accommodation for up to 70 people. A member of staff will be available to welcome the party and their guests.
Photographs may be taken (usually the signing of the Schedule). Requests for video recording must be discussed with the Registrar.
Background music is provided or you may provide music of your own choice, in consultation with the Registrar.
A floral arrangement is provided, or you may supply fresh flowers
Dingwall Town Hall
Subject to availability larger parties, up to 160 people, may be accommodated in Dingwall Town Hall, which has been designated as part of the Registration Office for the purpose of civil ceremonies.
Other Approved Venues in or around Dingwall
You may wish to have your ceremony in a hotel or other venue of your choice, provided it has been approved by the local authority for that purpose. Further information regarding approved premises is available from the Registrar and a full list of Approved Venues in Highland can be found in the 'Related Information' section opposite.
If your preferred venue has not been approved for civil ceremonies you should contact the registrar for further advice.
Please note
Prior to the ceremony the parties are required to verify all details to be recorded on the schedule which will be signed during the ceremony,and to discuss the form of ceremony used. A separate appointment is required for this, at a time to be mutually agreed.
