Consumer Advice
The Consumer Advice Line puts consumers in direct contact with experienced and professional Consumer Advice staff who are able to give them comprehensive advice and assistance to help them resolve their consumer problems.
Last year the Consumer Advice Line dealt with more than 3,000 consumer complaints as well as a large number of general enquiries from all over Highland. These complaints and enquiries covered the whole range of consumer problems including faulty goods and services, holiday problems, "bogus" direct marketing scams and misleading price claims. Some complaints may involve a criminal offence, these complaints are investigated by enforcement staff.
Detailed consumer advice and information leaflets are available. These can be viewed on-line at http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/highland/consumer.htm#gnal and copies can be posted out on request.
An integral part of providing our consumer advice service is effective partnership working with other advice agencies in Highland. Where appropriate clients can be referred to other agencies who are better placed to assist them with their complaints. We are also active partners working with the other advice agencies in Highland to set up a Highland Consumer Support Network.
