Falconer Waters Court, Thurso

Pentland Housing Association have completed the redevelopment of the disused allotment site to the rear of Thor House.  The site was originally identified through the Caithness housing development forum and the Council was able to identify alternative allotments for the tenants who were using the site, thus releasing the land for development.

The site was designed to capture as much solar gain as possible with spacious open   planned houses situated in a generously sized scheme to allow for space between  properties.  The houses are highly insulated,  south facing and timber framed with half  timber cladding.  They have solar panels for hot water, with electric heating as back up.

The development provides a total of 22 new affordable homes, comprising 2 two bedroom wheelchair accessible bungalows, 8 two bedroom houses, 6 three bedroom houses and 6 four bedroom houses.  Four of the completed properties are available for affordable home ownership under the LIFT shared equity initiative with the remaining sixteen being for affordable rent.
