We have completed 12 bungalows in Achareidh for sale to smaller households, such as older people downsizing from their family home and we sold 9 out of 12 homes in a very difficult financial climate.
4 of the bungalows were sold to first time buyers under the LIFT shared equity scheme. As mortgage provision eases, we anticipate that other potential purchasers will be able to sell their own houses and we will sell out by the end of 2009. The remaining two- bedroom bungalows for sale are a semi at £140,000, an end terrace also at £140,000 and a mid terrace at £135,000.
Last December Olwen Wallace, 85, and her son Malcolm moved from a two-storey house into a three-bedroom bungalow on this development. Mrs Wallace is happy in her new home, saying: “It’s much better here because I’m getting on in years. I had a fall and had to have my bedroom downstairs (in the old property).
