12.1 Where can I get Housing Information in Different Languages?

The Equality Scotland multi-lingual website www.equalityscotland.com provides access to information on housing, employment, etc. in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.  It has been set up by Trust, Hanover (Scotland) and Bield Housing Associations who provide housing care and support services primarily for older people throughout Scotland.

To help staff support customers whose first language is not English, the Council uses professional interpreters and translators.  Interpreting services can be provided over the telephone or face to face so please ask staff for assistance.  Further information can be found at http://highlandlife.net/interpretation.

The Council uses Deaf Action to provide British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation.

For more information, please contact the Council’s Equal Opportunities Officer, Tel 01463 702094, email equal.opportunities@highland.gov.uk
