A Tramp to Glen Tromie

The Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers have organised a guided walk to explore the habitats and wildlife of Glen Tromie

Suitable for well shod and prepared adults the walk takes place on Wednesday 7th March from 11am – 3pm.  Meeting at the Ruthven Barracks car park on the B970 south of Kingussie, the walk will take the track over the moor to Glen Tromie and will return to the Barracks via the Glen and Insh Marshes RSPB reserve.

Countryside Ranger Duncan Macdonald said: “We are on the verge of spring and there is no better place to see the changes afoot in the natural world than Glen Tromie.”

“Some bird species are beginning to return to their moorland haunts, buds are fit to burst on the trees and the early flowering plants are just itching to brighten the woods up after winter, this is an exciting time!”

This guided walk is part of a programme of guided walks and events organised by Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers throughout the Highlands. Copies of the programmes can be found on the Council’s website at www.highland.gov.uk or by telephoning: 01540 673 907.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife.
