Training Offered to Youth Work Staff

Youth work staff from Drumnadrochit, Dingwall, Ardersier, Nairn, Alness, Golspie, Kinlochleven, Mallaig, Kyle of Lochalsh and Cromarty came together for youth work training organised by The Highland Council last weekend.

The staff represented included the Council’s Youth Development Officers, and people working in voluntary organisations across Highland.

The weekend, held near Aviemore, was the first of a planned programme of training that the Highland Council Youth Development team will be offering to youth workers across Highland.

Pablo Mascarenhas, Principal Youth Development Officer with the Education, Culture and Sport Service said: “Youth Work in Highland will always be delivered in communities on a partnership basis between the Council, voluntary organisations and local community activists. The Council is committed to supporting this process through providing high quality training.”

Jo Fieldsend, Youth Work Leader at Dingwall Youth Café said : “As the youth work leader of an independent youth café, I feel that it's really important that all agencies involved with young peoples development work together to provide Highland’s young people with positive experiences.
