Motorists Warned of Disruption on A830 Fort William – Mallaig road

Motorists are being advised of a disruption to traffic on the A830 Fort William – Mallaig trunk road to allow work to proceed on Transport Scotland’s £22.7 million upgrading of the road between Arisaig and Loch-nan Uamh.

Morrison Construction, who were awarded the contract to complete the final phase of a modern two lane carriageway on this lifeline route, require to close the road from 11am to 2:30 pm each week day from Monday 11th February throughout the rest of February and carrying on into March.

All residents along the route are being advised of the temporary daily closures and Traffic Scotland will publicise the disruptions via variable message signs.

A spokesman for Morrison Construction said: “We require to close the road for three and a half hours each day to safely carry out road widening and surfacing works in areas of restricted working space. We apologise to road users for the disruption but there is no alternative to road closures to allow us to safely progress the works.”

The Arisaig to Loch nan Uamh Improvement is the last in a series of improvements of the 27-kilometre length of the A830 extending from Mallaig to Lochailort.

The design of the Works has been taken forward by The Highland Council acting as agents for Transport Scotland.
