New speed limits in place at Strathpeffer School

From Monday 2nd February, 2008, Strathpeffer Primary School will have permanent and part time 20mph speed limits in operation for children’s’ safety.

The new part time speed limits will be in operation on school days from 8:40am to 9:00am and 3pm to 3:15pm.

When the limits at Strathpeffer become operational 78 of the 82 schools in the Ross, Skye and Lochaber area where 20 limits are to be put in place will have been completed.

Motorists are reminded that if they speed in the vicinity of Highland schools then the penalties will be tough. The Highland Council, Northern Constabulary and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (Highlands and Islands Area) are clear that if motorists are caught speeding near Highland schools where a 20mph limit is in place, then robust enforcement action will be taken by both the Police and the Procurator Fiscal Service.
