IT company Fujitsu announces new jobs for Inverness

Issued by Fujitsu

Global IT company Fujitsu is to create ten new jobs at its main Highland office in Inverness. The expansion will enable the company to provide remote IT support for existing Fujitsu customers across the UK and potentially elsewhere in Europe.

These skilled jobs, for systems and operations support, will be advertised across the Highlands in late March and will include extensive training and development opportunities for the successful applicants.

This is an expansion for Fujitsu in the region, whose existing 150 Highland employees already service a contract for The Highland Council which includes modernising the Council's IT infrastructure, systems and services.

Chris Garside, Fujitsu business unit director, said: “We are very pleased to be announcing these new jobs. We want to be the first choice IT services provider in Scotland and this expansion during difficult economic times highlights our determination to achieve that aim.

“We are committed to being a significant employer in the Highland region. Our ability to serve clients across the country and further afield from our Inverness office emphasises the quality of the IT support team we already have in place, and the confidence we have in the skills of the local workforce generally. We are looking forward to rolling out these new jobs throughout 2011.”

Councillor Carolyn Wilson, Chair of the Resources Committee at The Highland Council, said: “This is welcome news for the local economy. It underlines the qualities of our workforce and the ability of companies to do business nationally and internationally from a Highland base.”
