New online business advice and information facility launched by Highland Trading Standards

Highland Council’s Trading Standards has today launched a new information website service specifically designed for Highland business and trade users.

Gordon Robb, Highland Trading Standards Manager explains: “We receive a considerable amount of calls to our free ‘Business Advice Line” service which covers the whole of the Highland area.  Calls to the advice line can range from specialised advice being sought regarding trading standards legislation as well as advice regarding civil disputes between consumers and businesses.

“Our new information leaflet website facility will enhance our already existing service to businesses. This new facility will enable both new entrepreneurs as well as established businesses to navigate through information on trading standards legislation as well as enable them to compile their very own business information leaflet based on their own business needs.”

Highland Trading Standards are keen to emphasise that this new facility for businesses and traders is easy to navigate around and use.

The facility guides the user through a series of ‘tabs’ using simple prompts relating to the type of industry the business is involved in and the area of concern regarding the relevant trading standards legislation. Once the user completes the process he/she can retain this information in their very own information leaflet on trading standards legislation and how it affects their business. This information leaflet can also be used as part of their own quality system and/or for staff training.

Gordon Robb further explains:  “Information provided through the website will be updated regularly to include new or amended legislation which can affect a whole range of different businesses providing both goods and services to members of the public and other businesses

“This new online business advice and information leaflet facility will also provide useful information on trading standards legislation available for businesses involved in industries such as farming and agriculture as well as the tourist and catering industry.  I would encourage all businesses to keep a shortcut on their desktop to http://www.highland.gov.uk or save it to their ‘favourites’ bar as I am sure it will become an invaluable free information resource to all Highland businesses.”

Access to The Highland Council’s Highland Trading Standards Tailored Business Advice Leaflets website can be found on the council’s website at http://www.highland.gov.uk
