Temporary road closures – Inverness area

On Tuesday 2 and Sunday 7 December temporary road closures will take effect in Inverness area.

Glen Affric

Motorists and pedestrian are being advised of the temporary closure of the C1112 Glen Affric Road, Inverness area at Innis An Droighinn Bridge on Tuesday 2 December 2014, between 9am and 4pm.

The temporary closure is to allow contractors appointed by The Highland Council to safely carry out essential bridge strengthening works to the bridge.

A Council spokesperson said: “A lot of credit must go to our contractor (McGregor Construction (Highlands) Ltd for managing to limit the restriction to within a single working day. They intend to be as accommodating as possible when it comes to allowing access. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated, while other vehicles may have to wait for more lengthy periods before it is possible to allow them through.

The temporary closure will affect vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.

Inverness Santa Fun Run

On Sunday 7 December there will also be temporary road closures in Inverness for public safety during the Inverness Santa Fun Run. The following roads will be affected on 7 December:

• Bught Road, Inverness, closed at its junction with the access to Whin Park to its junction with Bught Avenue, between 12:15 and 14:30. Access to Whin Park will be maintained from the Bught Road junction with Glenurquhart Road.
• Bught Road, Inverness, closed at its junction with Bught Avenue to its con-junction with Ness Walk Upper, between 12:15 and 14:30.
• Ness Walk Upper, Inverness, closed at its con-junction with Bught Road to its junction with Ballifeary Lane, between 12:15 and 14:30.
• Ness Walk Upper, Inverness, closed at its junction with Ballifeary Lane to its junction with Bishop’s Road, between 12:15 and 14:30.
• Castle Road, Inverness, closed to northbound traffic between its junction with Haugh Road and its junction with Bridge Street, between 12:30 and 14:30. Vehicular access for southbound traffic will be maintained at all times.
• Ness Bank and Cavell Gardens Road, Inverness, closed to through traffic between its junction with Castle Road and its junction with Island Bank Road, between 12:30 and 14:30. Access to local properties will be maintained.

The closures will affect vehicular traffic. Pedestrian access and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Access to and from Whin Park and those riverside properties affected by the closures, will be available to and from Glenurquhart Road.

Alternative routes for vehicles will be available using Haugh Road, View Place, Castle Street, High Street (part), Bridge Street, Young Street, Tomnahurich Street, Glenurquhart Road, Bishop’s Road, Ballifeary Road, Ballifeary Lane, Bught Road (part), Bught Lane, Bught Avenue and Bught Drive.
