Thurso Beach in Caithness had virtually every little piece of litter removed yesterday (Wednesday 5 October) thanks to the hard work of pupils from Mount Pleasant Primary School.

The Keep Scotland Beautiful registered beach clean was undertaken by the Primary 4 and 5 classes and the P4 Gaelic medium class. The children were ably assisted by their class teachers Mrs Firth and Mr Harper and also pupil support assistants Mrs Wares and Miss Duncan.

Highland Council Countryside Ranger Paul Castle also helped with the beach clean and said: “Community environmental volunteering activities play a very important role as part of the school’s on-going Eco-school studies. This is the second year I have been involved helping Mount Pleasant Primary School clean the beach at Thurso. I know everyone in Thurso and beyond, including our local wildlife, really appreciate their kind efforts.”
