2.3 Application for Children's Certificate

Members may wish to note that Children's Certificates are applicable to bar areas contained within Hotel & Public House premises. The Certificate allows children under the age of 14 to enter the bar area if accompanied by an adult of 18 years or more. However entry is restricted for meal-taking purposes and may only take place between 11.00am and 8.00pm. The undernoted applications, which affect part of licensed premises, will be accompanied by a plan.

The Board may grant a Children's Certificate if it is satisfied:-

(a) that the premises or the relevant part of the premises, constitute an environment in which it is suitable for children to be present: and

(b) that there will be available for sale or supply for consumption in the certified area, meals and beverages other than alcoholic liquor.

The Board has the power to attach such conditions to the grant of a Children's Certificate as it thinks fit, including conditions restricting the hours and days on which the certificate is valid. In the past, the Board has not chosen to attach conditions. If granted, a copy of the Certificate must be displayed.
